Installation

As part of the development of HafenCity, the largest urban construction initiative in Europe, the city of Hamburg  constructed a modern cruise terminal building on the Edgar Engelhard Quay in Altona, the historic centre of Hamburg. The Altona Cruise Center  provides berthing for cruise vessels with a length of up to 300 meters. ADELTE was contracted by FEG to deliver a Passenger Boarding Bridge with a design that would blend in with the design of the terminal building.

The KRONUS PBB is equipped with glass mounted telescopic tunnel sections and has the possibility to extend from 25 to 49 meters. The smaller tunnel section is adjacent to the cruise terminal building and the larger tunnel section is adjacent to the cruise vessel entrance door. The cabin of this bridge is equipped with a uniquely integrated hydraulic telescopic docking ramp that, when attached to the cruise ship, automatically follows the vessel’s movements and will immediately undock in case of an emergency. The bridge is completed with the movable rotunda, the support column and the elevation frame with radial wheels. This bridge can serve any cruise ship and is compliant with international safety and security standards.
