Installation
We have contributed towards giving a stamp of identity to Birmingham International Airport (BIA) with the installation of its glass – sided passenger boarding bridges, a new concept in passenger boarding bridges which further enhances the beauty and modernity of this airport. J.Laing backed the multifaceted features of the boarding units manufactured by our company in September of 1998 with the signing of a contract with the Spanish company. A year later the delivery and installation of the passenger boarding bridges in the terminals was carried out. In December of 1999, BIA acquired two new passenger boarding bridges which were installed in April of the following year.
In total five telescopic aircraft access passenger bridges were delivered, Apron Drive type, glass – sided two – section increasing section units, four units of the model PTT-200/325-2CA and one unit of model PTT-215/350- 2CA measuring 32.5 and 35 metres in length respectively. The exterior of the passenger boarding bridges, totally glass – sided, is finished with blunt edges and stainless steel guide tracks. The interior of these boarding units is equipped with a carpeted floor, air conditioning and fluorescent lighting. The boarding units are complemented with pre – passenger boarding bridges, anchoring and an electric activation lifting and traction mechanisms system.
